St. Mary's at Felician Village
Long-term nursing care and Next Step transitional rehabilitation services

Would I share my room with another resident?
No, all the rooms at St. Mary's are private.

How do I pay for care at St. Mary's?
If we can meet a resident's medical and nursing needs, we will accept him or her into our facility regardless of payer source. We are certified for and accept Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and Medicare. We also accept private insurance and private pay sources.

Are you Medicare certified?
Yes, all 191 beds are Medicare certified. This means residents who are temporarily hospitalized will retain their room. We also offer Next Step, a specialized, post-acute unit for residents focused on going home.

Do you accept a resident with Alzheimer's disease?
Yes, St. Mary's has a specialized unit for residents who have memory problems as a result of Alzheimer's or other dementia.

Do you provide rehabilitation for people who are not residents?
Anyone in need of extended rehabilitation following a hospital stay may reside temporarily at St. Mary's for Next Step services. Next Step residents are given a private room in a unit dedicated to their short-stay as they receive physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or speech and language pathology.

May I bring personal items from home?
Of course, St. Mary's becomes the resident's home. We encourage families to bring a favorite chair, clothing, pictures and similar items.

Do you offer activities in the evening and weekends?
Yes we do! Please visit our Calendar of Events under Our Services for a full list at each facility.

Can my pets come to visit?
Pets are always welcome and we encourage they visit often. Many residents keep treats in their rooms in anticipation of days in which Therapy Dogs visit as well as when residents' pets come to visit.

May I have a beer or drink before dinner like I would at home?
Yes, so long as your doctor approves. Occasionally, "happy hour" is organized for the residents.

What is the process or procedure for moving in?
Because of the variety of resident health conditions, physical needs, insurance requirements and individual circumstances, we recommend contacting our admissions staff directly for more specific information. Please contact Tracy Reinhard, Director of Resident Services, at 920-684-7171, ext 231.

Transitional Care Services

What are transitional care services?
These are rehabilitation services designed to help those recovering from surgery, illness or injury. In most cases, these are services for those people requiring rehabilitation before returning home from a hospital stay; hence the term “transitional”. Our name for these services is Next Step. We provide the transition between hospital and home.

What types of services are included in transitional care services?
The services provided include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech and language pathology. The specific therapy programs are based on each person's individual needs as prescribed by their physician.

What is the difference between "Next Step" transitional services and St. Mary's?
St. Mary's extends long-term skilled nursing care to residents and “Next Step” units deliver short-term—up to 6 week—rehabilitation care services to guests in transition between hospital and home.

Next Step units feature private rooms on a dedicated unit of St. Mary's. Each of the newly furnished Next Step rooms is equipped with a telephone, wall-mounted TV and VHS player. Guests are steps away from the dining room/lounge area where they can gather and socialize, watch a movie, or access the Internet and check e-mails. Next Step guests can choose to enjoy meals in the privacy of their own room or join others in the dining room/lounge area. A well-equipped kitchenette allows guests to prepare a beverage and snack at their leisure.

What health situations are addressed?
There is a wide variety of orthopedic, neurological, cardiology and other needs met including post-op hip replacement and repair, post-op knee replacement, post-op back surgery, stroke recovery, pain management and more.
